When an Accident happens

  • 1. Do not leave the site of the accident
    Leaving the accident site will be construed as an act of hit-and-run.
  • ↓
  • 2. Take care of the injured first
    Make the injured as comfortable as you can, and immediately call 119 for an ambulance.
  • ↓
  • 3. Report to the Police
    Immediately call 110 for the police or report to the nearest police box (Koban) regardless of the type of accident.
  • ↓
  • 4. Write down important information about the accident and the other party
    ・Write down name, age, address, phone number and name of the insurance company of the other party.
    ・Make a note of the accident site, road condition, traffic signal, road signs, etc.
    ・Get names, addresses, phone numbers of any witnesses.

  • 5. Report to your insurance company as soon as possible
    Most insurance companies offer 24-hour emergency services.
